About

cars

Urban car-dominated environments – with impersonal streetscapes, lack of community interaction and inequitable mobility systems – are alienating and are isolating young people from one another and from local institutions. Policy-makers in Europe are beginning to recognize the urgency of rethinking our urban environments to be more inclusive of young people, yet there is a need for more youth participation in decisions and actions that affect the local physical and social environment that we live in.

The Carfree Cookbook is a toolkit from the World Carfree Network to promote involvement of citizens in a democratic society at the local level. We have designed this with a special focus on helping young people to get involved and engaged in their local communities!

The Carfree Cookbook is jam packed with inspirational action reports, how-to-guides, media outreach handbooks and carfree graphics, together with a way to get in touch with other activists and to publish your own actions and share your skills with the carfree community. It’s everything you need to become a carfree activist!
